What is a Type B GPR / EML Survey?
A PAS 128 Type B survey uses geophysical techniques such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic location (EML) detection to accurately locate underground utilities without excavation.
These surveys detect buried services by scanning the ground in a grid-like pattern and interpreting the returned signals. GPR is particularly useful where multiple utilities exist or where plastic pipes cannot be detected using electromagnetic equipment alone.
If you require a topographic survey of the site at the same time, we can place underground services directly onto it, ensuring all measurements share the same control grid.
Once a Type B survey has been completed and used for design purposes, the precise position of any underground service must always be physically verified before ground, engineering or construction works begin.
